Phranakhon

Thai street food from the old heart of Bangkok — shared, after dark.

The Thai way

Thai food was never meant to be eaten alone.

On the streets of Phra Nakhon — the old district of Bangkok that's home to the famous Khaosan Road — dinner arrives as many small plates at once, passed around the table, with something cold to drink.

So that's how we cook. Two or three tapas each, a curry or a noodle dish to share, and then — because there's always room — another round.

Our story

From Khaosan Road to Grape Lane

We're the team behind Khaosan Road on Walmgate — one of York's best-loved Thai kitchens since 2009. Phranakhon is what came next: a revolutionised way of eating Thai, where European indulgence meets authentic Thai taste.

It began on Grape Lane in York, then came to a candlelit basement on York Place in Leeds, and to Cheltenham Crescent in Harrogate — three rooms, one menu, the same fire.
